About David

David grew up in Snellville, Georgia and graduated from Brookwood High School. David remained in Atlanta for college and law school, earning a Business Economics degree from Georgia State University and his Juris Doctor from Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School.

David’s law school faculty awarded him the Harold R. Banke Advocacy Award, for displaying the best potential in his entire graduating class to develop into an accomplished litigator.

Within a few years of becoming a lawyer, David caught the attention of the entire Cobb County legal community when he went on an unprecedented winning streak of a dozen jury trial victories. At that time, David was employed by a Marietta firm whose lead partner would later be appointed judge of the Cobb County Superior Court. While in private practice, David also completed the Georgia State Bar’s Young Lawyers Leadership Academy and served as an adjunct professor at Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School, teaching mock trial.

David would go on to serve as a Senior Assistant District Attorney for Cobb County under two administrations. David’s reputation as a prosecutor was for being tough yet fair, for always being knowledgeable of the law and for being a skilled trial lawyer.

In 2013, David opened his own law practice, Willingham Law Firm, P.C., where he practices criminal defense, family law, and civil litigation. David has helped thousands of people in a time of need. David was named a Georgia Super Lawyer in 2018 and 2019. David’s office sits at 236 Washington Avenue, where several past prominent Cobb County lawyers have practiced.

In his spare time, David enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters, being a “Dance Dad,” church, playing guitar in a rock band and playing golf.
